Holiday Pilgrimage

The Big Idea

The holidays of Pessach, Shavuot and Sukkot mark three special points in the year when the entire Jewish community would unite in Jerusalem to celebrate together. The State of Israel was reintroduced to the world amidst a business savvy population- one which drives travel prices up specifically at popular times such as holidays. This project aims at securing affordable family trips to Israel, encouraging jubilant celebratory experience in the heart of our homeland along with all of our brothers and sisters.

The Impact

The Holiday Pilgrimage will subsidize airfare and additional travel costs for Los Angeles Jewish families to Jerusalem at three points throughout the year: Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot.

This Is A Great Idea Because

The reunification of Jerusalem is less than half a century old! Until then the holiday pilgrimages were absent for 2,000 years. Reuniting with Jerusalem has afforded us countless blessings, least of which is a divine melting pot of our Jewish communities and identities. This idea builds upon the biblical framework of the pilgrimage holidays as well as modern efforts by community leaders in Israel (such as Yishai Fleicher) to create such initiatives through the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, as well.
