Jenerosity

Jenerosity is a giving circle of young Jewish adults who pool their resources and collectively decide where to distribute the resulting funds. Jenerosity will also include social and educational components that engage participants in their communities and increase members' understanding of philanthropy and community issues. Members of jenerosity giving circles will be asked to contribute $250 to the collective fund.

We hope to match their contributions dollar for dollar with grant. Any member can nominate Jewish 501-C3 organizations for the fund's consideration and each member has an equal vote in the final allocation decisions. The group will leverage proven giving…

Collaboration

Collaboration is not a program, nor an organization, but truly is the next big Jewish idea. However important and meaningful new programs and services may be, until the paradigm of the Jewish community becomes one of collaboration money and resources will always be scarce and programs and services will always be in jeapordy of being terminated. These economic times are now requiring us to not simply cooperate - if we at all do that, but to do what we as Jews have always been meant to do with each other...Collaborate!

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Table Tennis Therapy Program

The Sport and Art Educational Foundation (SAEF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization currently dedicated to improving the health and wellness of those in the West Los Angeles Jewish community. With headquarters in the Westside Jewish community center, SAEF operates the Alzheimer's Table Tennis Therapy Program where instructors work with Alzheimer's patients along with patients with other forms of dementia, to improve their overall well-being through a carefully supervised games in table tennis. An article about our program was recently featured in the Jewish Journal: http://www.jewishjournal.com/50_Plus/article/pingpong_therapy_brings_net_gains_to_alzheimers_patients_20110125/ Our work at SAEF is based on a Japanese clinical study that has demonstrated table…

Jewish Agency Sustainability Center (JASC)

With dozens of nonprofit organizations working tirelessly to serve the Jewish community, raising much needed funding is an ongoing challenge. At the same time, the leaderships of most nonprofits are not expert marketers or fundraisers. This presents a dilemma in that nonprofit agencies struggle to not only provide the services they are good at, but at the same time they must market their agencies so they reach target audiences and funding sources that can provide the funding they need to keep their agencies flourishing. The mission of the Jewish Agency Sustainability Center (JASC) will be to help Jewish nonprofits achieve…

Love thy Neighbor

Jewish family education based on adoption of needy urban families in an interfaith framework. To build inter-congregational collaboration and good will in the larger Los Angeles community, congregations will encourage one pilot family to join in a community wide effort to live tzedaka by adopting and caring for a less privileged family of another faith. Hillel the Elder taught that we need to seek a balance between focusing our our community's needs and those of the rest of the world. Love Thy Neighbor does both. We seek to strengthen Jewish families by providing a framework in which to do tikkun…

Cashformycause.com

Cashformycause.com is the Next Big Jewish Idea to engage our community in fundraising efforts simply by living their daily lives. Ten years ago, Upromise.com launched their site as a method by which members could earn cash back from gasoline, grocery, restaurant and online retailers to help fund their children's college education expenses. Since that time, they have amassed 10 million members earning cash back rewards from thousands of retailers resulting in over $600 million credited to their accounts. Cashformycause.com takes that same proven model and converts it to a philanthropic objective.

The roadmap for retailers and business model has already…

One Stop Philanthropy

I propose a website that would computerize Jewish charitable giving. The website would provide a venue for those donors who wish to make their donations electronically. The website would provide an easily accessible location where prospective donors can obtain information on the relative merits of different charities and the functions they hold (i.e. dinners, vacations, etc). Thus, even if the donor still wants to transact donations in the traditional way, he would still have the potential to book these special events (dinners, trips, vacations etc) on the website.

The donor would be asked a number of basic personal questions like…

Cater for the unfortunate Jews

For the fortunate and wealthy Jews, let them share their wealth with the unfortunate Jews. Let them be giving to those that are lacking. Opening an organization or a small corporate firm is good. This organization will ensure that Jewish community comes together as one to help those that are needy among themselves. This corporate can be inform of a financial institution which is non profit organization to carter for the needs of others among the Jewish community. Small loans, credit and also issues to do with getting employement, assistance with affordable housing can be of great importance through this…

SURVE

We want to match Jewish volunteers with Jewish charities/events and match Jewish volunteers with each other. We are SURVE—SERVing the Jewish organizations of Los Angeles while ensuring the SURVival of the Los Angeles Jewish Community.

Think of this as a dating site without the profiles, stealth dating if you will.

No more trying to be witty and create a clever impression of yourself, no more scrolling through endless pages of pictures and favorite books and movies, no more endless questions that make you feel like you are being interviewed.

This is about bringing Jewish people together to form friendships, partnerships…

THE JEWISH EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND

In Seattle, WA, an edowment fund has cut the cost of Jewish education significantly, allowing many more children to be educated Jewishly. So many complain about the high cost of Jewish education that the most common choice of parents is to not pay for one. This is the nemesis of Jewish Continuity. Currently only a very small fraction of non-Orthodox Jewish children receive a meaningful Jewish education beyond bar/bat mitzvah prep. The inevitable result will be catastrophic for their future participation as Jews. There is a solution for Los Angeles. The establishment of a dedicated fundraising office to secure a…
