Ideas — Jewish Identity
Tiyul Tzedek - A Journey of Justice
We want to inspire every Bar and Bat Mitzvah student to engage in the world as a Jew and to see and experience Jewish values in action. We propose to provide at least 500 Los Angeles Bnai Mitzvah students and their families with a year-long year Tiyul Tzedek, a Journey of Justice.
The Tiyul Tzedek will take students and their families on a tour of Jewish values providing concrete opportunities to act, to learn, to engage and to create. Through this journey each student will come to understand that living a Jewish life means seeing the face of God in…
Jewish (LA) Sparks
Using the ideas spreading across Europe's Jews, I would like to see our college-age youth create new programs, starting on campuses, that will marry their youthful energy and enthusiasm with new innovative ideas, like these: http://www.jewlicious.com/2011/01/sparks-of-european-jewish-innovation/
NCSY 3.0
We live in in an instant-delivery culture. Movies are streamed to your computer, news arrives at your newsfeed, invitations are sent through Facebook, and emails come straight to your phone. People no longer need to go to physical locations in order to get what they need but rather they increasingly expect to have those things delivered straight to them, no matter where he or she is.
The same is true with Jewish content. NCSY has always been an innovative youth organization by inspiring and educating teens in the places where they were found. In its early days, when a majority…
FRIDAY FRIENDS
Ask any little child that attends a Jewish preschool what they love most about school and they will usually say, "Shabbat!" They love the taste of the challah, the lighting of the candles and singing, "Bim Bom." Friday Friends would bring Jewish preschool experiences to every and any Jewish child in the Greater Los Angeles area on a sliding scale fee system so that a Jewish education will remain a right of all Jewish children and not a priviledge. The program would encourage children to be brought by mother, father, grandparent, or family member or friend so that together the…
The Jewish Baseball Western Wall of Fame
The Jewish Baseball Western Wall of Fame is to be a peripatetic and home based comprehensive collection of memorabilia, information, compilation of deeds and accomplishments of the approximate 180 Major League Jewish Baseball players who have played the game since the mid-19th century. The organization is to make in-person presentations to the young people of the Jewish and non-Jewish community of Los Angeles and southern California.
I have been doing this on my own for some time and it has been an overwhelming and rewarding success in "ensuring the Jewish future," "engaging in our community" and bringing families closer together…
Date My Jewish Son
I want to create a social network for jewish parents who want to set up their children with other eligible Jews. Parents can network with each other and help set up their children. This will help more young jews marry other jews. Yes, jdate is powerful but parents know best who is a great match for their child and they can always suggest/recommend someone they find on the site.
WE ARE ONE
All Jews are not the same. Meeting another Jew is not like meeting a Gentile. There is a comradery. a backgroud, whether you grew up here or New York or Boston or South Africa.
My idea is to have a book, radio or TV show, a DVD make a doucmentry where ordinary people talk about being Jewish. This is just about being Jewish. Not asking for help, not asking for money, not asking for a place to live.
I am Jewish through and through. I rarely go to Synogoge, and I don't associate with only Jews, but I am Jewish.
…Baby Steps: The Jewish Family Initiative
Providing outreach to new Jewish parents is essential if we hope to sustain and grow our community. In Los Angeles limited Jewish family enrichment programs exist for new parents that are unaffiliated with a synagogue. Baby Steps: The Jewish Family Initiative will fill the void by offering a one-stop shop for new parents interested in growing their Jewish home.
The Baby Steps program will consist of three different components: parent education, community outreach and infant care. Every week, classes will be offered to new Jewish parents on topics ranging from How to Celebrate Shabbat in Your Home to Choosing a…

Every Jew to visit Israel year 2011
I believe that for too many reasons, Jews around the world have NOT made the trip to Israel, even once. It is not about the cost for the most part, it is from fear, it is because of spotlighting Israel as a place of terror, it is because other places seem "Easier" or "closer". There has been a great effort on the part of the Israeli government to advocate vacations in Israel. It is simply not enough.
Even the free Birthright trip for the younger Jews, has not been an overwhelming success. There is not enough of an impulse to…
