Batsheva Frankel wins the search for the Next Big Jewish Idea!

Congratulations to Batsheva Frankel for winning the search for the Next Big Jewish Idea! The panel of judges arrived at their decision following several weeks of deep reflection, passionate debate and consideration of community votes and comments.

Batsheva will receive up to $100,000 in funding plus in-kind services from The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles to turn her “LaunchBox” concept into a reality. (The idea was originally submitted and known as “Jewww in a Box.”)

The goal of LaunchBox is to engage more community members in L.A. to begin or increase incorporating Jewish traditions and rituals as part of their lives via interactive boxes delivered to their homes. The boxes will be filled with fun activities, materials and links to online resources that will serve as “Nourishment for the Jewish soul.”

Watch this short video to meet Batsheva Frankel, and learn more about her idea:

“We are thrilled with the potential LaunchBox has to engage the unaffiliated members of our community, as well as those who are more active. It fits perfectly into our Federation’s vision to make Jewish life more accessible and affordable, as well as our overall mission of ensuring a strong and vibrant Jewish future,” said Jay Sanderson, President of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.

Over 350 ideas were submitted, with five finalists being chosen by popular vote, and an additional five selected by an external panel of judges who ultimately selected the winning idea. Over 100,000 votes were cast during the search!

Thanks to everyone who participated with their ideas, their votes and their excitement for the Next Big Jewish Idea. We can’t wait to start working with Batsheva to implement LaunchBox. And we look forward to keeping you updated on our progress. In the meantime, how do you think LaunchBox will impact our community? Share your thoughts below:
